Cooler weather, finally! But I'm not ready to break out the gumbo pot yet. I think we're going to put something on the grill this weekend; it'll be too chilly, and too dark, pretty soon.

For the recipes this week, first up, a classic: Leah Chase's take on oyster dressing. Next up, a decadent artichoke and seafood dip that will be more than welcome at any holiday gathering. And finally, true comfort food from the Gibson's, a multi-generation family of shrimpers: Grits a Ya-Ya. It has rich and cheesy grits as its base, and a topping of nicely spiced Louisiana shrimp. Equally good for brunch or a cozy dinner

Enjoy the recipes, stay safe and healthy, and, as always, let me know what's on your mind.

Best regards,

Susan Ford, Publisher and Editorial Director

P.S. Putting the finishing touches on our first cookbook, we'll start taking orders soon, stay tuned!

Leah Chase's Holiday Oyster Dressing

From one of the greats of Creole cuisine, this dressing will be the centerpiece of your table. Chef Leah advises setting the bread out a day or two in advance so that it's stale; read through the recipe and plan accordingly. You might want to double it if you want leftovers!
